PEDRA FORTE · The Wild Strength Garden

Build · Sep 2026

Train with the land.

An open-air strength garden carved from granite, timber and rope — built by hand from the land it stands on, on a quiet slope between the caravans, the pond and the sauna.

What is PEDRA FORTE

A natural training garden, not a row of painted steel machines

PEDRA FORTE isn't a row of painted steel machines bolted to concrete. It's a natural training garden — atlas stones split from our own granite, log presses cut from Norte Portugal timber, a pull-up rig framed against the Gerês mountains. Eight connected zones take you from morning mobility to raw strength, conditioning and balance, then down to the pond for a cold dip and the sauna for the heat. You don't go to the gym here. You move through the landscape.

Built from the earth, not shipped in a crate.

Granite, chestnut and pine, gabion stone, hemp rope — materials that weather into something more beautiful, not more broken.

Stone-Age strongman meets Scandinavian calm.

Primal, grounded training framed by forest, water and mountain — every corner made to be lived in and filmed.

Eight zones, one flow.

Warm-up, calisthenics, natural lifting, conditioning, balance, recovery — sequenced so a session feels like a journey, not a circuit.

Recovery is part of the workout.

The stretch deck flows straight to a cold-water pond dip and a wood-fired sauna — heat, cold, breath, repeat.

Built from the land

Almost every element is reclaimed or grown here

Atlas stones and gabion benches come from granite cleared on the site itself. Logs and beams are local chestnut, eucalyptus and pine. Battle ropes and lashings are hemp and manila. Even the tyres for flips and drags are rescued from local workshops. The one thing we buy is the galvanised steel for the overhead rig — because a pull-up bar over your head is no place to improvise. Everything is crafted to last, weather gracefully, and look like it has always belonged here.

Part of the retreat

The strong heart of a wider wellness rhythm

The garden sits on a morning-sun clearing between the caravans and the water. Gravel paths tie it into the rest of the retreat — the natural swimming pond, the wood-fired sauna and the outdoor kitchen are all a short barefoot walk away. Train hard, then dip cold, sweat in the sauna, and eat under the trees. PEDRA FORTE is the strong heart of a wider wellness rhythm: move, recover, restore.

Practical & inspiring

Built in phases, safe before any guest uses it

Built in phases — a working core first, then the full eight-zone garden — so it grows with the land and the seasons. Load-bearing and overhead elements are signed off by a competent builder before any guest uses them, so the experience stays as safe as it is wild. You get real, functional training in a setting you'll actually want to spend your morning in.
